Interpolating Expressions in Unit Selection

چکیده

In expressive speech synthesis, a key challenge is the generation of flexibly varying expressive tone while maintaining the high quality achieved with unit selection speech synthesis methods. Existing approaches have either concentrated on achieving high synthesis quality with no flexibility, or they have aimed at parametric models, requiring the use of parametric synthesis technologies such as diphone, formant or HMM-based synthesis. This extended abstract reports on on-going work exploring the addition of a certain degree of control over expressivity in a unit selection context. Rather than merely choosing one unit selection voice database in order to determine the expression contained in the generated speech, we use technology from the voice conversion domain to flexibly interpolate between two voice databases. This provides us with the possibility to generate a continuum of expressive tones between the two extremes defined by the two voice databases.

Painlevé expressions for LOE, LSE and interpolating ensembles

We consider an ensemble which interpolates the Laguerre orthogonal ensemble and the Laguerre symplectic ensemble. This interpolating ensemble was introduced earlier by the author and Rains in connection with a last passage percolation model with a symmetry condition. In this paper, we obtain a Painelevé V expression for the distribution of the rightmost particle of the interpolating ensemble. S...

Evaluation of New MOND Interpolating Function with Rotation Curves of Galaxies

The rotation curves of a sample of 46 low- and high-surface brightness galaxies are considered in the context of Milgrom's modi_ed dynamics (MOND) to test a new interpolating function proposed by Zhao et al. (2010) [1] and compare with the results of simple interpolating function. The predicted rotation curves are calculated from the total baryonic matter based on the B-band surface photometry,...

Finding Interpolating Curves Minimizing L∞ Acceleration in the Euclidean Space Via Optimal Control Theory

We study the problem of finding an interpolating curve passing through prescribed points in the Euclidean space. The interpolating curve minimizes the pointwise maximum length, i.e., L∞-norm, of its acceleration. We re-formulate the problem as an optimal control problem and employ simple but effective tools of optimal control theory. We characterize solutions associated with singular and nonsin...

A priori convergence of the Generalized Empirical Interpolation Method

In an effort to extend the classical lagrangian interpolation tools, new interpolating methods that use general interpolating functions are explored. The Generalized Empirical Interpolation Method (GEIM) belongs to this class of new techniques. It generalizes the plain Empirical Interpolation Method [1] by replacing the evaluation at interpolating points by application of a class of interpolati...

Interpolating time series based on fuzzy cluster analysis problem

This study proposes the model for interpolating time series to use them  to forecast effectively for future. This model is established based on the improved fuzzy clustering analysis problem, which is implemented by the Matlab procedure. The proposed model is illustrated by a data set and tested for many other datasets, especially for 3003 series in  M3-Competition data. Comparing  to the exist...
